OTAM^2

Good morning everyone, I imagine most of you did not get much sleep. (future readers notice the January 1st date) It's time to talk about OTAM^2(OTAM squared)

'

OTAM^2

OTAM^2 stands for "One Thrill/Tech Thing a month" meaning I am basically going to do one thrill/tech thing a month. The word "trill" just means something really exciting and the things at the library would fit that description. The tech things should improve my skills in some ways. I got the idea since the library's Murder Mystery Night took place in October, about a month from the Escape Room which I did in November. Then in December, Fiona at my naturalist club gave a presentation where She tried to get one interesting nature shot per month. That solidified the idea.  To make it challenging I have come up with the following rules:

1. Can be something I have done before if not often. (i.e. Drop-In VR, which I have only done twice**)
2. Can be similar to something I do all the time if Thrilling enough. An example is: I take photos of interesting things all the time but only once have a gone to the Reptile Zoo, Reptillia. When we did go, we paid twice the admission price and got to do a photo session with the animals, organized by zoo staff.
3. Only the first of a set count*, so if Drop-In VR starts in July and continues to August, only the Jully one counts. This is also true for things that don't happen continuously, so only the first meeting of a new club counts.
4. The tech thing must improve my skills but does not have to be something I put on my resume. Playing games does not count but setting up a 3D printer might.
5. The tech thing must be "thrilling" in a technical way, it can't be for example "wring a program I have written before but with a new language".
6. These rules might change throughout the year.
7. I will try and acquire digital/physical proof of each one of them. I will then blog about them all at the end of the year.(or sometimes sooner), so stay tuned.
8. Some thrills/teach can be bigger or smaller than others, the biggest one is the always the "Thrill/Teach thing of the month".
9. If I miss one, I will try to get it later in the year
10. The previous OTAM should be announced at the begging of the next month but details can be left out depending on what it is. (example: something I've started that I would rather not talk about till it's released).
11. A project can take multiple months to complete but I should try and find new things each month.

* An exception is made if something went wrong such as a technical defacuitly that prevented me from getting the full thrill.

** at the time of conceiving these rules.

Oh yeah and OTAM is my new year's resolution!

OTAM "Real Mode"

If I am successful with OTAM I will do "OTAM Real Mode" next year which will be the same as this one but with unchangeable rules.

It may also include a "No Library" rule, cause they are making this "too easy".(both thrills and tech things have involved the library)

Revision: 1.4.2
