64-Java

Again a more technically article.

64-bit Java, 32-bit Java does it matter what environment you compile/run your code in? Is if faster?

Java is platform independent so it should not matter what environment you compile in or what JVM you use. Code compiled on a 32-bit  JVM will run as if it is "native" 64-bit code on a 64-bit machine or more importantly if you use a 64-bit JDK your code will run just fine on a 32-bit machine. This is because of Java's nutural "byte-code", I found an interesting discussion on this at stack overflow and included the link bellow.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/783662/java-32-bit-vs-64-bit-compatibility

They claim that they only problem you could have would be with 32-bit libraries calls, that is calls to "native" C++ compiled(in x86/x86-64 machine code) libraries and this is true.

As for speed I can not find out for sure, there are all sorts of opinions on the net. I think they would be a slight incress in speed just like any other 64-bit app would.
